About Leila Krotchie

Leila Krotchie is a student journalist, political commentator, and the founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Next Seat, an independent publication dedicated to politics, public policy, and the issues shaping the next generation. A passionate advocate for civic engagement, Leila has built her experience through Youth & Government, Model United Nations, and the Carnegie Youth Fellowship, where she has explored government, public policy, and leadership beyond the classroom. She has also interviewed public officials and prominent figures, bringing firsthand perspectives into her work and expanding her understanding of how policy is shaped in the real world. Driven by a deep interest in politics, law, journalism, and public service, Leila founded The Next Seat with the goal of building a platform where young people are not treated as passive observers of politics, but as informed participants in the conversations that will define their future. Through her writing and reporting, she hopes to make complicated issues understandable, challenge conventional thinking, and prove that you do not have to wait until adulthood to have a seat at the table.
